Panel: DIY Tools and Platforms
Dean Jansen is the Outreach Director for the Participatory Culture Foundation, the non-profit behind the free and open source internet TV application, Miro. The PCF's mission is to build a more open and diverse world of online video. Aside from his work with PCF, Dean is engaged in a wide variety of projects that relate to video, freedom, and internet culture. He has worked on a variety of academic conferences, including Beyond Broadcast I and II. He is currently co-organizing an upcoming event, titled ROFLCon, which is envisioned as an exploration of internet memetics and fame. Dean is a member of the Harvard Free Culture group, an organization dedicated to the promotion of issues surrounding copyright and how it affects the dissemination of culture and knowledge.
